The Album Is Done!

Finally! The last song for “Tha Throwback” has been handed in, I’ve completed the sequencing and I’m ready to go to mastering with the project. I must state that I’m really happy with how it turned out though I was unable to secure a song from Brix or Enot due to some personal problems. Hopefully everything they’re going through will be resolved and they can contribute in the future.

In the meantime I think this album is way better than my last release. I’ve listened to it from beginning to end and it just flows a lot better than the previous which I think will make the overall listening experience that much more enjoyable. The track listing for this album is as follows:

1. Intro - by Cartel
2. This Time - by Marc Dollarz
3. Fool - by Scholarly Pursuits
4. The Love - by Mallz
5. We’ll be Alright - by Gates
6. You - by Scholarly Pursuits
7. Monkey See, Monkey Do - by K.Sparks and Nova
8. What it do - by Buttah featuring M.A. (Money Attitude)
9. Don’t want No Problems - by Gates
10. Rock Stars - by Full Fam
11. Gotta Fight - by T.G.

Going into this album, my focus was different. On “Prepare For Glory” my focus was the U.S. but with “Tha Throwback” my focus shifted to the global market. I didn’t expect much when I added my music to Jamendo but it opened my eyes that there’s a whole world out there that appreciates real hip hop music. Music created from the heart to touch others as opposed to the fast food crap that can be heard throughout the airwaves of the U.S. I find that once you go outside our country, hip hop is more pure. It’s not strictly a money thing and all of the elements from b-boying, breakdancing, and deejaying still exist. I guess that’s why “Prepare For Glory” was so well received. In Europe, music from my first album has been featured on snow boarding dvds, utilized in public service commercials, bumped in Eastern Block clubs and has spawned a host of fan created videos. I’m looking to do more of the same with this album and more!

I’ve also thought a lot about how to promote this album and I have a few unique strategies for a hip hop release that I’m going to try to pursue in order to garner some publicity. As a small label with an almost non-extistant budget, I’m always forced to think outside the box just to be seen which is not necessarily a bad thing because it forces me to innovate. As things are now, we’re looking at a July 1st release date for “Tha Throwback”. A nice summer release date which works because I think Marc Dollarz has definitely created a summer anthem. See you in a few.
